Clark Gracie interview

Hello! I´m here with Clark Gracie. Here at Clark Gracie academy in Old Town,
is that correct? that’s right, Old Town, San Diego
Alright, Clark can you tell me a little bit about yourself? Yeah, my name is Clark Gracie. I´m third generation of the Gracie family,
that came from Brazil to challenge the world in Jiu-Jitsu, Martial Arts
Nice! Nice! I´m just here teaching my Grandfather´s martial
art, my family´s art that we´ve continued to develop over the years, and I am very proud
to be in the place that I am. Nice! My next question is, how has Jiu-Jitsu influenced
your life, throughout your Jiu-Jitsu career. You know it´s hard to imagine my life actually
without Jiu-Jitsu. It´s influenced my philosophy, the way I
do things, my confidence, discipline, there are so many things in the aspects of life
that it carries off the mats. One thing that I ask my students is, how does
Jiu-Jitsu affect your lives off the mats? It´s something I like people to think about
sometimes, to consider because you go through a lot of things off the mat, you go through
a lot of hard situations in here, whether it´s, a lot of times it´s physical, but mentally
you have to think your way out of it. This sometimes can be a tool that you carry
into your life. Nice
What city are you originally from? I was born in San Francisco, California Now that you´re in San Diego, what are some
things you enjoy doing in San Diego. San Diego is a great place, You know people
have a pretty good lifestyle here. The weather´s pretty good and I like going
to the beach here. I have a lot of friends here now. More of my family is coming down here and
Jiu-Jitsu is becoming more popular. It´s just a great place to be. Nice!
What is your favorite food to eat here in San Diego? Umm, well… I like sushi, I like sea food, I like açai. You know açai is coming to San Diego now. It´s getting very popular. You know.. I eat at home a lot, to eat healthy and clean
and to able to perform the best I can in here. My last question is for all those that are
practicing Jiu Jitsu, what are some tips that you can give them as far as improving their
Jiu-Jitsu? Yeah, I think, sometimes people think really
hard about how they can get better, and it can be stressful. It could be a little bit anxiety, but I think
the best, l just how they say in surfing, just have fun. The best surfer is the one having the most fun. So Jiu-Jitsu, if you´re having fun, you´re
going to be creative, you´re going to learn without even realizing you´re learning. You´re just going to be good at it, by accident
almost…You know? Just come in, have fun with it, enjoy the
experience, enjoy the battles and if you do that, you´re are going to end up a good…
you´re going to become a Black belt, if you stick with it for sure. So, if anyone wants to find out more information
about you where can they go? They can check out my website,
or they can always follow me on Instagram and Facebook. Thanks again Clark. My pleasure! Alright!
