Combat Systems here and today I’m going to show you a clip of a fight which ends up going
to the ground. In it the loser makes a critical mistake which ends up costing him badly. So
what I’m going to do is I’m going to show you how to address that situation if
you ever wind up on the ground. Stick around. Ok first I’m going to show you the clip
then we will come back and we will debrief some things that went wrong, then I’ll
show you a clip of what you could do if you were in that situation. Now before you watch
this realize that this is a real fight there is a real winner and real loser and the loser
ends up getting hurt pretty bad. There is also some very foul language so make sure
you are in an appropriate location before you watch this. sup man hey back up off me fuck you talking
about nigger suck my dick fuck suck my dick fuck you talking about sup fuck you talking
about I’m by myself nigga I’m dope nigga ain’t nobody suck my dick yeah record that
I’m from New York I’m out here by myself man fuck these niggas man fuck you talking
about man I’m dope man suck my dick let’s go there you go there you go yeah oh no he’s
in trouble now he’s in trouble now what you going to do get your ass beat come on
chose the one you want get up off the dude like that he’s done fuck you
up worse ain’t nobody trying to jump nobody Now it’s easy to get caught up in the emotion of this video but since we don’t know what
preceded this violence why don’t we just step back and be scientists about this and
use it as a tool to learn how to fight better. Ok so there are many parts of this video that
we could choose to get a self defense or martial arts lesson out of however I figured I would
just isolate primarily on the ground element of this because so many fights end up on the
ground and so many people are uncomfortable and don’t know how to be successful there.
Now I’m going to take this from the loser’s perspective because he is the one who lost
on the ground. For the record I’m not taking the loser’s or the winner’s side on
this I don’t know what preceded this violent encounter or fight but what I do know is that
both individuals acted like immature idiots and we aren’t going to get into that. All
we are going to do is talk about what you can do if you wind up on the ground. So if
you review the video you will notice at one point the loser winds up on his back and he
ends up turing face down. Now that’s very instinctive for people to do they want to
turn away from the danger it’s a lot safer to turn away from that danger in their minds,
reflexively, but it’s the worst possible thing that you can do. When you turn your
back someone can sink a choke in, they can punch you in the back of the head and hit
your cerebellum which will knock you lose. You will see stars, you will seize up, which
you actually see happen to this individual at the end of this fight. So what I’m going
to do is show you just a quick video that I taught of how to basically get from your
stomach wind up on your back and quickly deal with the situation. Now this video is not
meant to be some kind of teaching educational video with every point drawn out this is just
real quick because I want to show you that it is possible to win in this situation and
actually it’s a lot easier than most people think. So having said that, here is the video,
here we go. So I’m here punching, he doesn’t want to be here so he rolls. If I catch my balance
then I’m still punching so he uppahs, he grabs me. Now he’s got this arm he’s
not going to let the head go. This is his free arm to grab my arm. Good, so now he’s
going to find my foot, he’s got it. He’s going to roll me… boom. He’s keeping
his head tucked, see how he keeps his head tucked? Now he’s going to find my elbows,
he’s going to pin the elbow. Now he’s going to scoot down and launch a head-butt
BOOM obviously be careful. 1 – 2 – 3 goodnight! He’s out. Now there are multiple things that could have
been done from any of those positions. Once again I just wanted to show you that that
was a completely winnable situation. In that particular clip that I showed we used what
we call a medium level of force. So you notice that we head-butted, we did a couple of hammer
fists to the face, then we smashed the balls on the way out. Now we can always dial up
the amount of force we use and we can always dial down the amount of force we use based
on the situation. How much force to use is an entirely separate topic that I’m not
going to cover that right now. Just realize that from a legal perspective if you get into
a spun up ego-driven state and you are on top of someone punching and pounding their
face out like you see in an MMA fight and they get badly hurt you could wind up in prison.
So unless you like wearing orange I don’t recommend you do anymore than is needed to
stop your attacker and then disengage. Education is great but what you actually have to do
is train these positions until they become 2nd nature. When you have someone on your
back you shouldn’t have to stop and think about what you need to do. It should just
kick in, BOOM you spin you uppah or hip thrust you pull them in stop their aggression. And
then you have a moment to decide what level of force you are going to use. How do you
get that good? Uh… training! Get out there and train with people. So I encourage you
today to get out there and find a great group of people to train with, get your repetitions
in, build up your familiarity and comfort level with being on the ground with someone
on top of you punching and grabbing and choking. And if you God-forbid ever wind up in this
situation on the ground you will know how to deal with it. So guys and gals thanks for
watching and I’ll see you next time. }
