Hello! I’m Sifu Mallon with the Clearwater
Kung Fu center. This is my assistant Melissa and this is kick boxing. We’re going to be
working on our basic hop for jump rope conditioning. To start this, we’re going to go the cross
swing to arm open into basic hop. I’ll demonstrate it for you, first. Now Melissa, go ahead and
go through it a few times. So you can see. So I start with my basic cross swing. I get
the rhythm and then I open, basic hop. One, two, three, four. Basic hop. O.k. Melissa,
go ahead and step forward. And we’ll go ahead and show you some of the finer points. So
she begins with her legs little close together. Knees little bent. Now she starts with her
cross swing. O.k., she goes about four and then open, straight through. Good. Now you’ll
see, this is called our basic hop. So she’s going one hop, one jump. One hop, one jump.
Another way that a beginner can go ahead and do this. Melissa, go ahead and do the double
hop. So go cross, cross. Open and now double hop before you jump. So this is a little bit
slower pace. And allows you get the timing of that jump roping, a little bit faster.
