MMA Ground Fighting for Self Defense : How to Escape Bottom Guard in the Street

JASON JEANETTE: Hi. I’m Jason Jeanette. This
is Daniel Klapheke from Elite Martial Arts of Middle Tennessee for Expert Village DANIEL
KLAPHEKE: This is a street fighting version of escaping the bottom guard. This version of the guard escape is going
to be more for the street because we want to get back on our feet because rolling around
on the asphalt, it’s not something I feel like doing for very long. So I’m going to
control him by grabbing the top of his head here and pulling him in just as to keep him
from sitting up on me and throwing punches. From here I’m going to set my right foot on
the floor and I’m going to push my hands on one side of his head, the same side as the
foot that’s on the floor. From here I’m going to push his head this way. As I do, I’m going
to straight my hands out to the side. As I do that, I’m placing my foot in his hip. This
is to keep him from coming back on top of me. If he tries coming in, I’m just going
to kick him off. From this position, his face is wide open for strikes. So as I’m punching,
I’m going to post my hand here and I’m going to throw my foot back behind me into a fighting
stance.
