JASON JEANETTE: Hi. I’m Jason Jeanette. This
is Daniel Klapheke from Elite Martial Arts of Middle Tennessee for Expert Village. DANIEL
KLAPHEKE: This is one variation of a sprawl from a takedown attempt. All right, in this
situation, we’re going to assume that my opponent has some wrestling background, maybe in college
or high school he wrestles, so he wants to get me to the ground. What he’s going to do
is, is he’s going to shoot in, most of them are just like any other tackle. He’s going
to try to put his shoulder against my hip, leg, and his arms around my legs to try to
throw me down. So, my first concern is to get my legs where he can’t get a hold of them.
So as he shoots in, I’m going to throw my knees and feet way up try to catch the back
of his head here. This will drive him maybe to his knees or even to his stomach which
we do a different variation. From here, in a cage fight, I wouldn’t be allowed to knee
him but on a street fight, that’s all I’m going to do. Just throw hard knees, maybe
follow up one more kick, and then cover up.
