MMA: UFC 213 Betting Preview and Picks

Joe – It’s been a while since the last big
UFC event, but finally UFC 213 is upon and the event features two title fights with very
tight odds. At the top of the card, we have the white
hot dynamo Amanda Nunes defending her bantamweight title vs possibly the most well-rounded fighter
in the division with the best name in the UFC in Valentina Shevchenko. This is a rematch of a March 2016 fight where
Nunes won a close decision, but the champ is actually the underdog in this fight, hovering
at around -105. So, Justin, on paper this looks like excellent
value. Do you think
Nunes is being undervalued? Justin – Undervalued not the right word. People taking a lot from first fight. Nunes aggression, finishing prowess
Shevchenko’s cardio, technical accumen Joe – After re-watching that first fight,
I just feel that Shevchenko is tougher and this makes a huge difference in a five round
fight. She has zero quit in her and after watching
her tear through Holly Holm and Julianna Pena, I do feel that she has improved over the last
year and that’s why I’m picking her to win the title on Saturday. Justin – Respond with Shevchenko pick as
well, but take Nunes via KO (+285) if you think she wins. Joe – In the co-main event we have an interim
title fight for the middleweight title and I fully expected to see Yoel Romero as the
favorite over Robert Whittaker, but this isn’t the case. Romero is the dog in the +105 range and I’ll
be jumping all over him here. We saw Whittaker take a huge step in his last
fight when he finished Jacare Souza. This brought his win streak to 7, but Romero
is 8-0 in the UFC with the knockout power of a heavyweight. I like him to win by KO, which comes in at
+220. How does this one shape up for you? Justin – This one is tough. Whittaker’s ridiculous takedown defense
vs Romero’s wrestling Romero’s striking defense vs Whittaker’s
striking offense. I’m taking Whittaker becauwe I think Romero
likes to strike too much and that plays to the Kiwis strengths. Joe – Two more bets I really like on this
card. Alistair Overeem over Fabrico Werdum at -130
and Olek-say Oli-Nick over Travis Browne at +160. I think Overeem can keep this one on the feet
and control the fight and I feel that Browne is being dramatically overvalued vs the lesser-known
Oli-Nick. Is there anything else that stands out to
you on this card? Justin – Jim Miller (+190) has been screaming
to me since his fight with Anthony Pettis was announced. Once CCR starts playing, Miller is there to
work. Should suffocate Pettis
Watch out for Pettis sub Joe – That is it for our UFC 213 betting
preview. For a complete breakout of the main card,
