UFC Fight Night 124 Pre Fight Rundown; Luke Rockhold Vs Robert Whittaker Cancelled

Early Saturday morning it was reported that
Robert whittaker will not be defending his belt vs Luke Rockhold due to an undisclosed
injury. Luke Rockhold will still fight in Australia
at UFC 221 except vs Yoel Romero. The fight will be for the interim title. Romero originally had been scheduled to fight
#10 ranked David branch but we’ll see who branch is paired up with next. UFC Fight Night will be on tonight at 10pm
Eastern Time. The main event will be Jeremy Stephens vs
Do Hoo Choi. Jeremy is coming off a landslide decision
victory over Gilbert Melendez where he battered Gilberts legs enough to knock him to the floor
several times and pick up a few 10-8 rounds. Choi is coming off his 2016 Fight of the Year
loss to Swanson and hadn’t lost a fight in 6 years prior to that. He also didn’t fight in 2017 and said he
plugged some of the holes he had in his fight style that he wasn’t aware of until he lost
to swanson. He says he has 1 year left before he is beckoned
by the Korean compulsory military service. He stated that he’d like to have a title
shot before he’s sent to serve his time. It seems unrealistic as the UFC would have
to wait 2 years for his return and it would tie up the featherweight division if he were
to win. We’ve already experienced Korea’s mandatory
military service once before with the popular Korean Zombie. Choi said “I feel that during that time
I’m in the military, I’m still going to be working on my fighting career, so I’ll
just become an even greater fighter, in my opinion.” The co-main event was Vitor Belfort’s retirement
fight vs Uriah Hall but unfortunately the bout has been scrapped because Hall was not
able to make weight due to kidney failure and was sent to the hospital. John Morgan of MMA Junkie said he’s doing
fine and currently recovering. Vitor Belfort wished Hall the best on Instagram
and says he’ll be flying back to spend time with his family. Paige Van Zant is returning to fight after
a year absence. This is going to be her debut in the new women’s
flyweight division against Jessica Clark. I’m more interested in seeing how well she’ll
do after leaving Team Alpha Male for Gracie Barra (baha) in Portland as she’s been training
there this past year. She’s coming off a loss to Michelle Waterson
last year and Jessica is on a two fight win streak. #10 ranked Kamaru Usman is finally going to
fight Emil Meek after I’ve personally been waiting an eternity for this fight and reported
on all the back and forth for more than 2 months. Usman is on a 10 fight win streak and the
always exciting Meek is riding a 4 fight winstreak. And Finally Michael Johnson has decided to
move down to featherweight and is Facing a game opponent in Darren Elkins. Johnson was already long and rangey at lightweight
so I can’t wait to see his debut at featherweight as he looked good at weigh-ins and said that
he had no problem making the weight. Darren is on a 5 fight winstreak and Michael
Johnson has gone 1-4 in his last five bouts at lightweight. Enjoy the fights everyone and remember to

if you found it informative.
