What’s next for Tyron Woodley?

When you look at Tyron Woodley and you talk
about the morning after, or here we are the Wednesday after, what do we always do to these
poor guys? We talk about what’s next. We never let them enjoy their moment. Never. But when you look at Tyron and you talk about
what’s next, I just don’t think there’s any way around it. I feel as though I can accurately report to
you guys right now it’s going to be Tyron Woodley versus Colby Covington. That was the fight to be made. That was the fight that they wanted to make. That is the fight that both fighters are calling
for. That’s the fight that we fans have been waiting
for. I don’t think there’s any way around it. I think even if you’re Kamaru Usman, who’s
in a fantastic spot, who has done everything right, who’s beat everybody in his weight—I
won’t argue with any of that—I think even if you’re Kamaru Usman you’d probably go,
“Look, just make that fight. Just give it to—I’m not even putting my
nose in this thing. I know where the wind is blowing. Do it sooner than later because I am next. I’m next after this fight. So go ahead and get on with it.” I feel as though it’s that obvious of a match. Colby has been calling for it at MSG. Tyron can actually make that date. When Ariel and I had Tyron on, the ESPN show
right after the fight, he said that. He goes, “Look, I’d rather do it sooner
than later. I didn’t take any damage. I’m in great shape. I’m ready to go. I can’t say that at all times. I can say that right now. Let’s do it.” As far as red tape goes, Tyron will receive
an automatic 30-day suspension. That’s just [00:01:38] if not longer. You get that whether you win or lose. It’s just mandatory. But that still matches up for a November date. I do not believe that fight s going to happen
at MSG. I don’t think it’s going to happen that fast. But if we’re just having a conversation here
and Colby said yes and Tyron said yes and the fans want to see it and the date matches
up, yeah, I think it’s possible. I think it’s possible. I don’t think you’re going to throw that world
title fight on there, but I also don’t know how much the plan and the hopes of the UFC
are going to come around. You may need a match. That might be the one. It might be the one. I think Tyron really served himself well. I could hear it in the live audience. They were going crazy for him when the fight
was over. They were booing him eight minutes earlier. Now, that’s a North American crowd. We will do that. We’ll change our tune for any reason. We aren’t loyal to our countrymen. We will cheer for whoever we want, whenever
we want. But I’ll tell you that specific crowd, Tyron
flipped them and he flipped them in less than eight minutes. And if that is a microcosm and it certainly
is, of the bigger picture and the bigger scene in the world of mixed martial arts, good for
Tyron. What else can you say? Good for Tyron.
